Conscious Mind

1. The conscious aspect of the mind that is aware of something external and internal, the present moment, thinks, observes data, remembers, and resolves problems. 2. Sentience, awareness, the ability to feel and experience. 3. The executive function of the mind that acts versus the unconscious mind that reacts.

Consciousness

1. The state or condition of being conscious; awareness. 2. A sense of one’s personal or collective identity, including the attitudes, beliefs, and sensitivities held by or considered characteristic of an individual or group. 3. Awareness of something for what it is; internal knowledge: consciousness of wrongdoing. 4. Concern, interest, or awareness: class consciousness. 5. the mental activity of which a person is aware, contrasted with unconscious thought. 6. The mind or the mental faculties, characterized by thought, feelings, and volition. 7. To raise one’s consciousness means to make or become aware of one’s own or another’s needs, attitudes, etc.

Consequence

1. A result or effect that logically or naturally follows from an action or condition. 2. Importance or relevance.

Conservatism

1. The disposition to preserve or restore established traditions and limit change. 2. Opposition to change and innovation. 3. A political philosophy advocating the preservation and restoration of the established order in society and opposing change.

Consumer Price Index

The (CPI) measures changes in the price level of a market basket of consumer goods and services purchased by consumers. The CPI is a statistical estimate constructed using the prices of a sample of representative items whose prices are collected periodically. Changes in the CPI are used to assess price changes associated with the cost of living; the CPI is one of the most frequently used statistics for identifying periods of inflation or deflation.

Consumption

1. The act of consuming or the state of being consumed, esp by eating, burning, etc. 2. Expenditure on goods and services for final personal use. 3. The quantity consumed. 4. A condition characterized by a wasting away of body tissues. 5. Income, liquid cash levels, product lifecycles, confidence levels, borrowing levels and availability of debt influence consumer consumption.

Conventional Wisdom

The ideas, explanations, and beliefs that are generally accepted as true by the general public or experts in the field. Though widely held, these ideas and pieces of advice are neither examined or validated. Many of these thought forms are no longer true (if they ever were), perpetuating them maintains the status quo.

Covert Hostility

1. A term used interchangeably with Passive Aggressive to describe behavior that is disguised hostility and aggression. 2. Hatred, hostility, and aggression that is disguised by a pretense of friendliness interspersed with negative, cruel or cutting remarks; for example, “What a beautiful dress; I saw one just like it at the Salvation Army the other day.”
