How vs. Why

Most people want to know HOW to do something.  They ask, “How do I make more money? How do I speak up? How do I take more leadership?”

The HOW is the easy part when you have a clear picture of WHY.   Answer these questions: Why do you want to speak up? What will that give you? Once you are clear on what it will give you, figuring out how to do it is easy…

Straight Line

Most people think that the fastest way to get between two points is a straight line… and yes, they are correct when in a one dimensional reality. This is similar to looking at the horizon and saying that the world is flat.

We live in a multidimensional world and often the most creative solution shows that the fastest way to get from one point to the other is NOT always a straight line!

Three Types of People

There are three types of people: LEADERS, FOLLOWERS and BYSTANDERS.  Which are you?

Four Types of Followers

There are four types of followers: unwilling and unable, willing and unable, unwilling and able, and willing and able… which are you?

I Will Believe it – When I See It?

Most people have the attitude, “I will believe it when I see it.”  This is the opposite of the visionary attitude, “I will see it when I believe it.” What is your attitude?

Spiritual Beings

If we are indeed spiritual beings in a physical body, how much time do we spend focusing on our spirit versus time spent on the physical aspects of our lives?

Fully-Realized, Self-Actualized

To be fully-realized, self-actualized means that we have to have alignment between our SPIRITUAL, MENTAL, EMOTIONAL and PHYSICAL dimensions. Most people are well developed mentally and physically – and are underdeveloped spiritually and emotionally.

Projection

One little known aspect of leadership is projection. This is where some team members will set the leader up as a pseudo parent and then project all their unresolved feelings (with their parents) onto the leader!

You know this is happening when team members begin to act like children by competing for attention, are jealous of each other, etc.  They start responding to the leader with a level of feelings that are out of place.

Productivity goes down and upsets become more common.

Expansion Brings the Opposite

Have you ever noticed that just when things seem to be taking off, something comes up to sabotage everything? This is a common and observable phenomena.

Often, when things go well, everything that is in the way of more expansion comes up to be dealt with. Many people think this is bad luck… it isn’t. Neither is it negative.  Instead, it is a great thing because you are finally getting the opportunity to address exactly what is in the way of more success.

Are You Present?

Anytime you find yourself making a few little mistakes, experiencing near misses, and forgetting things, take a moment and ask yourself if you are “present, here now?”  Or, is there a part of yourself (your attention and/or awareness) that is stuck on something in the past or on an unsolved problem?

Unsolved problems can cause us to be “not present.”

Just identifying what is going on can help us become more present and the mistakes and near misses will reduce.

Obviously, you are going to have to solve the problem to remain present in the long term.
